Following the promotional plans we discussed at the beginning of the year, I’m continuing my mother’s efforts to introduce Dame Frevisse and the wonderful world of St. Frideswide to as many new readers as possible. Towards that end: For the next five days (until March 7th), Sins of the Blood will be available FREE on Amazon.
As my mother discussed when the book was released, Sins of the Blood is a collection of three Frevisse short stories — “The Witch’s Tale”, “The Midwife’s Tale”, and “The Stone-Worker’s Tale” — available through the Amazon Kindle store. It also includes the exclusive Guided Tour of St. Frideswide and, perhaps most importantly, an extensive preview of the first ten chapters of The Novice’s Tale.
Many of you may already own a copy of the book, but if you don’t this is a great opportunity to snag it. (Remember, even if you don’t own a Kindle you can still read it through your smartphone, tablet, or PC.) It’s also a great opportunity to share Frevisse with your friends and family. Throw ’em a link and tell them to grab it quick before it goes back to full price!

Justin –
I am so sorry to hear of your mother’s death. She was one of my favorite mystery authors and the great anticipation of her latest book coming in the mail was always a great thrill. I am glad I shared my appreciation with her when I could and hope you take some comfort in the many of us who will mourn the passing of her and the “might have beens” of all the other adventures of Frevisse and Joliffe. Thank you for your efforts to preserve her memory and her work.

Dear Justin
Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the passing of your mother. I have everything she has ever published and they are the first things I want to pack if I ever manage to move house – they are essential reading and firm favourites to re-read. Her knowledge of the medieval was superb and accurate and so enjoyable – and her characterisation brilliant – and her observation of people and the way that they think in secret causing actions in public was perfect!
She will be greatly missed – I don’t like to think of Domina Frevisse with no more problems to solve and people to save – or of Joliffe not being able to put things right in his own inimitable way – I wanted to know more about his family! I found myself imagining Joliffe’s family (briefly alluded to in a book) – then realised that I had unconsciously put his family in the self-same manor house described in the book about Jane with the Blemish when she married her excellent yeoman (perhaps I would like to live there too!).
Tears have been pouring down my face since I just heard the news – you were so lucky to have known Gail Frazer, as she sounds as wonderful and enjoyable to know as were the worlds in the books she created.
I don’t know if I misunderstood – but if you are thinking of continuing her work, then I for one will buy the books (just include her name as well as yours on the cover so her fans realise).
Sincerely
Pat Armstrong

Am not sure this is where I should be to just say (again) how sad I am for the family of Margaret/Gail Frazer & wish them well.
Because I also want to mention, she was one of my favorite authors. There were two books written by Dorothy Gilman (of Mrs. Pollifax fame) that were polar opposites of the Medieval mystery stories your mother wrote. Perhaps because I appreciated them both my tribute to your mother is especially fine to me because the style was so fine.
Best wishes to you,
Anne

Are any of Ms. Frazer’s mysteries available as an audiobook?
August 13th, 2013 - 2:25 pm
Many of Margaret Frazer’s most recent publications have been for sale only as e-books. I am someone who prefers to read real (paper) books. I wanted to know when these stories will be available in print?

Justin,
I was searching Amazon and just learned of your mother’s passing. As many others have said, she was one of my favorite mystery writers. I always appreciated the historical details of her books and will miss the characters.

Thanks for the kind words from everyone. I’m sorry I have not been doing a better job of keeping up to date on the website here.
Re: Audio books. A few of them have been, yes. You can find them towards the bottom of this page: http://margaretfrazer.com/books/alternative.html
Re: Frevisse stories in print. We have plans to make printed collections of the Frevisse stories (including those which have never been available in print) available, but there’s no firm time-table for that at this time.

I would like to extend my condolences for your loss. I have enjoyed all the books of Margaret Frazer that I can down load. Some in the middle of the Dame Frevisse. Also I was hoping for more adventures with Joliffe.

Dear Justin,
I am so sorry to hear of your mother’s death. As you can tell, I am not very connected to the world electronically, so it has taken me this long to learn of it. I hope you have many wonderful memories of your mother, and that the pain is lessening over time.It will never go away, but it will become possible to function again, and to remember her with joy.

Dear Justin,
I enjoyed your mother’s books very much. Sadly “The widow’s tale” is the only one of the Dame Frevisse series which is not available as an ebook. Are there any plans to publish it electronically?

Dear Justin,
I just wanted you to know that I truly loved your mother’s writing. She really opened a window for me, as a cradle Catholic and an Anglophile, into the life of the cloister in Medieval England, as well as the time and history of the country itself. I was devastated to read of her diagnosis and then her passing. She truly touched my life and her writing improved the way I connected with my Catholic faith. She was a wonderful historian, wordsmith, and was obviously amazingly clever. May all the nuns in heaven who once walked inside a cloister intercede for her and for all of us whom she touched with her writing. May God bless you and comfort you. Everybody’s mom is irreplaceable, but your mom was something extra special. Jo Ann Elder, August 9, 2017

I am so shocked and saddened at this news of your mother’s passing. I have read and reread so many of her books. I have asked book sellers why they didn’t stock her new books anymore but no one knew she had died. I was just starting to reread The Prioress’ Tale when I thought I would see if she had anymore books coming out. Again, I am so sorry for your loss. I will always treasure her works. I will read the others you have listed on your website.
